The Anchor

The word "hope" is used frequently in today's culture. Without a Christian perspective I'm sure ideas like hope can be beautiful and intriguing to the heart, but because of our Redeemer, those words and meanings are anchored into something realer than the delusions of the world and surpasses over any individual's personal losses or triumphs.
Without God, what is hope? Extreme optimism? Without God, there is no hope. The world has turned "hope" into a verb of positive wishful thinking. There is no backbone or foundation with the "hope" the world has to offer us. Hope is living in God's promise. Hope is trusting in God's promise and persistently looking forward to it.

"Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek."
-Hebrews 6:18-20

The world can only offer hope that is empty, shallow, and useless. In our redemption and God’s faithfulness – we find hope. We find the Anchor that promises a life of eternity of holiness and righteousness. We find eternal rest and comfort in knowing that our hope isn't wished upon, but rather anchored into something grander and greater than we could ever imagine. Our hope is anchored in God’s redeeming plan of salvation. God secures our hope through Jesus’s redeeming body and blood.
May we find hope in our salvation. Amen.
